BUDGAM, AUGUST 12: District administration Budgam has launched a Special Awareness and Assessment drive titled ‘Special People, Special Attention,’ aimed to assess and address the specific needs of citizens with special abilities across the district.
The initiative is being carried out by the District Social Welfare Office (DSWO) Budgam, under the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat.
Over the course of the campaign, scheduled from 4th August 2025 to 21st August 2025, 12 dedicated programmes have been planned in different blocks and towns of Budgam, ensuring maximum outreach and inclusion. The assessment will focus on identifying and documenting requirements of citizens with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Illness and other cognitive or physical conditions etc.
These programmes will also serve as awareness sessions for families, caregivers, and local communities while highlighting available government schemes, support systems, and avenues for assistance.
DSWO Budgam, added that these drives will be conducted in collaboration with medical experts, special educators, and community volunteers to ensure accurate assessment and follow-up action.
He urged families and individuals to actively participate in the sessions being organised in their respective areas.
District administration has assured that data collected during the drive will directly inform targeted welfare measures and policy interventions for improving the quality of life of citizens with special abilities in Budgam.
