KULGAM, SEPTEMBER 19: The newly constructed Sumo Stand near Chambgund bridge at Kulgam has been dedicated to the public by the Deputy Commissioner, Shahzad Alam, today in presence of Tehsildar Kulgam and CEO MC Kulgam along with officials and local transporters and public.
The vital transport facility has officially started being operational and functional for the convenience of the general public, commuters and transport operators of the area.The stand will facilitate the systematic boarding and alighting of passengers and parking of passenger vehicles plying on various routes, including Gudder, Laisoo, Malwani, Banimullah and adjoining areas.
The operationalisation of the Sumo Stand is expected to help in streamlining vehicular movement, reducing roadside congestion near Polytechnic College and providing a designated facility for passengers and transport operators in the area.
Municipal Council Kulgam has made necessary arrangements for the proper functioning of the stand and will continue to coordinate with the concerned departments for its effective management and maintenance.
“The facility marks another step towards improving public amenities, traffic management and organised transport facilities in the area”, said DC Kulgam while committing for establishing more public friendly facilities in the district.
The DC also interacted with the transporters and commuters and instructed authorities to facilitate the maintenance of all essential facilities at the stand.Transport operators and the general public have been requested to extend cooperation in maintaining cleanliness, discipline and smooth traffic movement in and around Chambgund bridge.
