POONCH, JULY 19: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal today chaired a meeting to review the implementation of the Amended Bharat Net Programme in the district.

The initiative, aimed at strengthening digital infrastructure at the grassroots level, focuses on bringing all panchayats under a robust optical fibre network.

During the meeting, Block Development Officers (BDOs) presented block-wise status reports and briefed the Deputy Commissioner about functional and non-functional panchayats in terms of optical fibre connectivity and availability of basic facilities like power and infrastructure.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the urgency of making all panchayats digitally functional under the Bharat Net programme. He directed the BDOs to ensure activation of connectivity infrastructure in their respective jurisdictions at the earliest to pave the way for the effective rollout of the amended scheme.

The Deputy Commissioner said that every panchayat must be connected to ensure inclusive growth and efficient service delivery to citizens.

The Deputy Commissioner further reiterated the importance of digital inclusion in rural development and urged all stakeholders, including the Rural Development Department, BSNL, and implementing agencies, to work in close coordination to ensure the timely and smooth completion of the Bharat Net initiative in the district.
