Jammu, Mar 10 : Amid widespread outrage over an objectionable fashion show at Gulmarg, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said that the government was not involved in the event at any stage.

Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, CM Omar, as per news agency said that his government had no role in organising the event.

“I want to clarify that there is no role of the government in the event. This was a private event and they had privately organised it. They didn’t use government infrastructure nor were government employees involved in it,” he said.

The Chief Minister added that the organisers did not seek permission from the government. “Had the matter been brought to our notice beforehand, we would not have permitted it,” he said.

Omar said he has directed the administration to examine whether any legal violations occurred. “If any provisions of the law have been breached, the authorities will hand over the matter to the police,” he said, as per KNO.

Omar also questioned the Jammu & Kashmir Police over denying permission to the Deputy Chief Minister from visiting Billawar, Kathua to express condolences with the families of the civilians killed.

“The Deputy CM wanted to go there but was asked by the police to wait for 2-3 days, citing the delicate situation in the area. It is beyond my understanding how the Leader of Opposition went there while the Deputy CM was not allowed,” he said
