Market Checking intensified in Handwara town

KUPWARA, MARCH 13:  To prevent overpricing, illegal profiteering and black marketing by business establishments operating at Handwara town, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Handwara, Aziz Ahmad Rather leading an officers’ team today conducted a market checking drive across Handwara town.

Market checking team consisting of (EO) MC Handwara, SHO and Food experts conducted market checking across the Handwara town to ensure all essential commodities are sold at Government approved rates as per the quality standards with sufficient availability of consumables.

Meanwhile, the ADC stressed on owners of all Business establishments/shopkeepers to maintain quality and standard of essential commodities and ensure all essential commodities are sold at Government approved rates. He asked the Market checking teams to continue the drive across all the markets of the town.

While interacting with the shopkeepers, the ADC asked them to display rate lists at prominent places and adhere to the rates approved and ensure quality and freshness of eatables.

The ADC said that encroachment of footpaths and pavements will not be tolerated at any cost, he urged the traders and street vendors to vacate the encroachments of footpaths and pavements so that people especially pedestrians do not face problems.
