Srinagar: Acting tough against social crimes, Police in Pulwama arrested three gamblers and seized stake money from their possession, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
Acting on specific information about presence of gamblers in the house of Zahoor Ahmad Hafiz son of Ghulam Mohammad Hafiz resident of Prichoo, a police party of PS Pulwama raided the said house and arrested three gamblers on the spot. They have been identified as Zahoor Ahmad Hafiz (House owner) Mushtaq Hafiz son of Ghulam Mohammad and Adil Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Bhat all residents of Prichoo Pulwama.
Officers have seized stake money of ₹ 66500/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 56/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pulwama and investigation set into motion, the spokesman added.
