DODA, JANUARY 15: In line with the directions of Transport Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan and Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh, a joint enforcement drive was conducted in Doda town as part of the ongoing Road Safety Month 2025.

The drive was conducted under the supervision of ARTO Rajesh Gupta, by the team of Motor Vehicles Department, personnel from District Police, Traffic Police and the Municipality. The drive primarily aimed to raise awareness among two-wheeler riders about the importance of wearing helmets and adhering to traffic rules.

As a unique approach to encourage safe practices, riders who were found wearing helmets and whose vehicle documents were in order were given chocolates as a token of appreciation. The initiative served as a motivational gesture to promote road safety and reward responsible behavior. The awareness campaign emphasized the life-saving benefits of helmet use and compliance with traffic regulations.

In addition to the awareness drive, the team also conducted a thorough inspection of auto-rickshaws operating in Doda town. During the inspection, vehicles without valid documents were identified, and 10 violators were challaned. A total fine of ₹24,000 was imposed on these offenders. This enforcement activity aimed to ensure that commercial vehicles adhere to legal standards, thereby enhancing the safety of passengers and pedestrians.

ARTO Rajesh Gupta stated that such drives will continue across the district to instil a culture of road safety and responsible driving. He further emphasized the importance of public cooperation in adhering to traffic rules to reduce accidents and ensure a safer commuting environment for all.

The Road Safety Month initiative in Doda highlights the collective efforts of multiple departments working together to create awareness, enforce laws, and promote safe driving habits. The administration urges citizens to comply with traffic rules, use helmets, and maintain proper vehicle documentation for their safety and the safety of others.
