DC reviews measures for smooth traffic flow in Kulgam town

KULGAM, JULY 21: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan on Monday chaired a meeting of officers from Motor Vehicle, Revenue and Municipality to discuss and finalise the measures and steps for smooth traffic flow in Kulgam town.

The meeting held threadbare discussion on various issues including management of the traffic system in the town and making it more convenient for commuters.

Requisite measures were discussed threadbare to overcome traffic jams and ensure better regulation of traffic. Creation of parking zones near Ghanta Ghar and Shopain Adda besides making Laroo bus stand fully functional also came under discussion.

DC instructed ARTO, Traffic Police department and other concerned to work in close coordination and act tough against traffic rules violators, who cause a lot of inconvenience to common people in the town.

Directions were passed to utilize the space near Polytechnic College for Sumo ada while DH Pora Ada be used for car parking. DC directed the traffic authorities to designate proper pick and drop points for passengers in public buses in the town.

He directed the officers to conduct a massive enforcement drive against wrong parking and roadside encroachments in town.

DC also asked to relocate street vendors from heavy traffic junction points which hinder smooth traffic ply. He stressed concerned officers to take all required measures to decongest roads in town to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

The meeting was attended by ACR Reyaz Ahmad Shah, ARTO, Tehsildar Kulgam, DSP- traffic, EO Kulgam, and other traffic police officers.
