RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 12: Chairperson District Development Council (DDC) Ramban Dr. Shamshad Shan today conducted an extensive visit of Mahakund area of Sub-Division Gool to take firsthand stock of the damages caused by the recent spell of heavy rainfall.

Dr. Shan was accompanied by prominent civil society members. A large number of residents apprised her of the hardships faced by the community in the aftermath of the rainfall.

Dr. Shan inspected the extent of damage to private and public infrastructure including link roads, residential houses, agricultural fields, and other utilities. She expressed concern over the loss suffered by the people and emphasized the need for immediate relief and rehabilitation measures to mitigate their difficulties.

Interacting with the locals, the Chairperson patiently listened to their grievances who demanded restoration of rain hit link roads, compensation for damage of crops and restoration of essential services. She assured them that every possible support would be extended by the government to ensure that affected families receive timely relief and necessary assistance.

She further directed the concerned departments, especially the Public Works Department and Rural Development Department to speed up the restoration of road connectivity so that people are not forced to face isolation in the coming days. She also asked officials to prepare detailed assessment reports of the damages to facilitate adequate compensation and relief.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to public welfare, Dr. Shan said that all line departments have been put on alert to respond swiftly to the situation and to work in close coordination with Panchayati Raj Institutions for ensuring smooth delivery of services at the grassroots level.

She also appreciated the resilience and cooperation of the local community in facing such natural adversities, while reiterating her commitment to continue regular field visits to monitor the pace of restoration works and ensure that relief reaches every affected household.

The visit of the DDC Chairperson was widely welcomed by the people of Mahakund who expressed gratitude for her timely intervention and personal concern for the issues faced by the rural population in difficult times.
