THATHRI, OCTOBER 16: The Health department organised a mega Health check-up Camp in the remote and hilly forest village of Srunga, nearly four hour on foot from the Kahara- Jai link road. The services camp was held under the guidance of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Om Kumar and the supervision of Block Medical Officer Dr. Shakeel Ahmed Kichloo.

The initiative aimed to extend essential healthcare facilities to one of the most geographically isolated and underserved regions of the district. More than 200 patients were examined free of cost, marking a significant outreach effort by the Health Department.

A comprehensive range of health services were provided during the camp, including general medical consultations, free medicines, screening for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), hemoglobin and blood sugar testing and sputum collection for suspected TB cases. Administrative support was also extended for the creation of ABHA IDs, Golden Cards under Ayushman Bharat and Vay Vandana Cards for senior citizens ensuring long-term health security and accessibility.

In addition, the health team visited Govt Middle School Srunga and conducted health check-ups of students, besides imparting them awareness under the ongoing “Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign 3.0.”
Students and community members jointly took a pledge to lead a tobacco-free life, showcasing strong community participation in public health initiatives.

The camp witnessed the active involvement of Jonson Chandail, Divisional ASHA Coordinator (Jammu Division), whose participation underscored the spirit of inter-departmental collaboration and commitment to reach out to remote populations.

Villagers expressed heartfelt gratitude to BMO Dr. Shakeel Ahmed Kichloo and his dedicated team for their relentless efforts and compassion in traversing difficult terrain to deliver healthcare at their doorstep.
