BUDGAM, OCTOBER 28: As part of the ongoing preparations for the upcoming Bye-Elections to 27–Assembly Constituency Budgam, the General Observer appointed by the Election Commission of India (ECI), Bhor Singh Yadav, today conducted an extensive tour of various polling stations across the constituency to assess preparedness and ensure compliance with the Commission’s directions.

During his visit, the General Observer inspected multiple polling stations including Government Boys Middle School Waterwani, Government Boys Middle School Dadina, Government Boys Middle School Labartal (East and West sides), Government High School Parisabad, Government Primary School Abadpora, Government Girls Middle School Sholipora (East and West sides), Government Higher Secondary School Sholipora, Panchayat Ghar Sholipora, Government Girls Middle School Potlibagh, and Government Primary School Betabagh.

The General Observer reviewed essential arrangements at each polling station, such as availability of basic amenities, accessibility for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), lighting, sanitation facilities, communication networks, and security measures.

He emphasized adherence to Election Commission guidelines and directed officials to ensure a smooth, transparent, and voter-friendly polling process.

The General observer also interacted with the concerned sector and zonal officers, taking feedback on the readiness of polling teams, transportation plans, and contingency arrangements. He appreciated the efforts of the district administration and urged continued coordination between election, police, and other line departments to ensure free, fair, and peaceful conduct of elections.

The General Observer expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made so far and advised concerned authorities to address minor logistical gaps, if any, well before the polling date.

During the visit, General Observer was accompanied by senior officers from the District Election Office Budgam, representatives from the Returning Officer’s team, and local election staff.
