UDHAMPUR, NOVEMBER 17: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Saloni Rai today reviewed the implementation PC&PNDT Act here at a meeting of the District Advisory Committee (DAC).

At the outset, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anil Manhas delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the current operational status of ultrasound clinics in the district. He briefed the chair about the clinic registration process, norms and procedures for cancellation in cases of misuse, emphasizing the need to improve the sex ratio in the district, which is below the national average.

Stressing on close monitoring, the DC directed the regulating authorities to conduct inspections of the clinics at regular intervals to prevent illegal practices of sex determination and female foeticide. She further asked for organizing awareness and sensitization sessions/camps at the block level in collaboration with BMOs, to educate people on women-related issues.

The CMO was instructed to grant provisional registration to clinical establishments upon fulfilling necessary formalities. After thorough scrutiny of documents, the Committee gave its nod for registration of two newly established clinics for services.
