POONCH, DECEMBER 27: Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Tahir Mustafa Malik today chaired a meeting of the Joint Working Committee (JWC) to review the progress of cooperative-sector initiatives in the district.
The Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies briefed the Chair about the targets set for the registration of new Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS). It was informed that against a target of nine PACS, six societies have already been registered, while four more are presently under process at the block level.
The ADC emphasized the need to intensify awareness campaigns to promote Cooperative Department schemes and the benefits available to the public. He also directed the concerned departments to ensure adequate branding of local products and sale of these products in local markets to enhance the income of cooperative societies as well as local producers.
The meeting was attended by the District Development Manager (DDM), NABARD, Assistant Registrars of concerned blocks, and representatives from Jammu Central Cooperative Bank (JCC), Fisheries Department and Animal Husbandry Department.
