BARAMULLA, FEBRUARY 10: In a significant initiative to enhance digital awareness and safety, a Cyber Security Workshop was organized at Dak Bunglow Baramulla, presided over by the District Informatics Officer (DIO), NIC Baramulla, Raja Ali.

The workshop aimed at educating participants on safe internet practices and protecting themselves from cyber threats, particularly phishing attacks.

Through an eloborated presentation, the DIO highlighted how the increasing reliance on digital platforms has made individuals and organizations more vulnerable to cyber threats.

He emphasized that while technology has brought convenience, it has also created opportunities for cybercriminals to exploit unsuspecting users. The workshop aimed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge to recognize and avoid online scams, particularly phishing attempts that often lead to financial fraud or data breaches.

Throughout the session, participants were guided on identifying suspicious emails, messages, and fraudulent website that cybercriminals use to steal sensitive information. The DIO stressed the importance of strong passwords, two-factor authentication, and secure browsing habits as primary measures to safeguard digital identities.

The experts also warned against sharing personal details on unverified platforms and urged users to remain cautious when dealing with unexpected requests for financial or login credentials.

The workshop also focused on the role of government initiatives in combating cybercrime. The participants were informed about the official portals and helplines where incidents of cyber fraud can be reported, including the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (www.cybercrime.gov.in).

The DIO reiterated the need for continuous awareness programs to keep citizens informed about emerging cyber threats and assured that the administration remains committed to promoting a secure and responsible digital environment for all.
