REASI, MARCH 28: District Magistrate Reasi, Kumar Abhishek, today chaired a meeting of the District Level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) to review enforcement measures and ongoing initiatives aimed at curbing drug abuse and promoting a tobacco-free environment across the district.

During the meeting, the District Magistrate reviewed cases registered under the NDPS Act and directed the Police Department to furnish detailed inputs on identified hotspot areas for installation of CCTV cameras in the town and other sensitive locations.

The meeting also reviewed Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities being conducted under the Nasha Mukt J&K campaign. The District Magistrate directed the Drug Inspector to conduct regular surprise inspections to ensure strict compliance with drug control regulations.

Emphasizing preventive and awareness measures, the District Magistrate instructed all educational institutions to ensure that at least one official from each institution is trained in counselling. He further directed the Health Department to promptly inform the police in cases where individuals seek treatment for substance consumption.

The Deputy Magistrate also directed the Education Department to maximize registrations on the TOFEI portal and called for coordinated efforts among all stakeholder departments to achieve the goal of a drug-free and healthy Reasi district. On the occasion, the District Magistrate released e-pamphlets and digital booklets on drug addiction awareness to strengthen public outreach and sensitization.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner chaired a meeting of the District Rent Assessment Committee (DRAC) to deliberate on rent assessment proposals for buildings currently occupied by various government departments across the district.

The Committee reviewed 12 rent assessment cases pertaining to departments including Health, Food Supplies and Police. After detailed examination, 9 cases were approved, while 3 were deferred due to incomplete documentation and procedural shortcomings.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to prioritize the use of government buildings or state land for office accommodation to ensure optimal utilization of public resources.
SSP Paramvir Singh, ADC Rakesh Kumar, PO POSHAN Sudershan Kumar, ACR Nitin Verma and other senior officers attended the meetings.
