HANDWARA, APRIL 17: In a powerful show of unity and resolve against drug menace, the District Administration Kupwara today organized a mega Pad Yatra in Sub-Division Handwara, sending a strong message against drug abuse and reaffirming the collective commitment towards a healthier, drug-free society.
The rally, flagged off from Chotipora, witnessed the gracious presence of MLA Handwara, Sajad Gani Lone, Commissioner Secretary, School Education Department and District Mentor-100 days NMBA campaign, Ram Niwas Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, SSP Handwara, Sahil Sarangal, Director Colleges Prof (Dr) S. Ajaz Bashir and ADC Handwara Javed Naseem Masoodi , alongside enthusiastic participation from Former DDC members, officers, civil society members, traders association, transport association, youth, and a large number of students.
Echoing with impactful slogans and vibrant placards, the Pad Yatra transformed the streets of Handwara into a powerful platform of awareness, highlighting the devastating effects of drug abuse and the urgent need for collective action.
The overwhelming participation reflected a strong and growing public resolve to eliminate the menace from society.
The march moved through key streets and markets, drawing widespread public attention and energizing the anti-drug campaign at the grassroots level. Participants also took the “Nasha Mukt” pledge, reaffirming their determination to stand united against substance abuse.
The rally culminated at Government Degree College Handwara, where speakers and dignitaries emphasized that the fight against drugs is not just an administrative responsibility but a societal mission requiring collective vigilance, awareness, and sustained action.
Adding further strength to the campaign, a signature drive was conducted, symbolizing a shared commitment to building a drug-free future.
Notably, similar Pad Yatras were organized simultaneously across Handwara sub-division under the Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyan, witnessing massive participation and amplifying the message across every corner of the district.
Later District Mentor also inspected functioning of Addiction treatment facility at GMC Handwara.
The District Administration Kupwara reiterated its firm commitment to continue such impactful initiatives and called upon parents, educators, and community leaders to play an active role in safeguarding the future of our youth.
