Gandhi Memorial College Srinagar hosts seminar on Drug Awareness

SRINAGAR, APRIL 25: Centre for Women and Social Concerns (CWASC), Gandhi Memorial College, Srinagar today organized a seminar titled “Why Dreams and Drugs Can’t Coexist” under the aegis of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in the college auditorium.

The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students, reflecting a strong commitment towards addressing the growing challenge of substance abuse.

The programme commenced with an inaugural address by the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Masood Ahmad Malik, who elaborated on the multifaceted nature of addiction and underscored the need for collective societal efforts to eradicate the drug menace. He emphasized that awareness, education, and community engagement are key to building a drug-free society.

SP North, Showkat Ahmad, who attended the event as Chief Guest, highlighted the importance of police-public synergy in combating drug abuse. He stressed that coordinated efforts between law enforcement agencies and the community are essential to curb the spread of narcotics.

The participants were sensitized about the legal implications and consequences associated with substance abuse.
The seminar effectively highlighted the friction between personal ambition and addiction, encouraging students to make informed and responsible life choices.
