SHOPIAN, APRIL 25: Drugs Control Department conducted an intensive inspection drive during the current week across multiple areas of District Shopian, including Hermain, Zainapora, Chitragam, and Main Town Shopian.

The drive aimed to ensure strict compliance with the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and the rules framed thereunder, particularly regarding the maintenance of records for scheduled formulations.

During the inspections, drug sale establishments were thoroughly checked for adherence to regulatory requirements.

Officials verified computerized billing systems, examined the operational status of CCTV surveillance, and scrutinized purchase and sale records of various scheduled drugs.

Special attention was given to Schedule H1 drugs, with records being carefully reviewed to ensure proper documentation and compliance.

As part of the enforcement process, eight drug samples of lesser known brands were lifted for laboratory testing and analysis to assess their quality and safety standards.

In addition to retail establishments, courier service offices were also brought under inspection. Consignments handled by courier agencies were examined.

Parcels were opened and verified to check for the presence of scheduled drugs that may be susceptible to misuse or illegal distribution.

The drive resulted in strict action against violators. Four firms were issued show cause notices for non compliance with regulatory provisions, while the operations of two medical shops were suspended due to violations of license conditions.
