PULWAMA, APRIL 29: As part of the ongoing 100-day campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan (NMBA), a mega padyatra was organized today at Awantipora, Pulwama.
The padyatra was flagged off by Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Tral, Rafiq Ahmad Naik, and MLA Pulwama, Waheed Ur Rehman Para. The rally commenced from the Tehsil Office Awantipora and culminated at Government Polytechnic College (IUST) Awantipora.
The padyatra was organised with the objective of creating mass awareness about the ill effects of drug abuse and aimed to sensitise the public, especially the youth, about the physical, psychological, and social consequences of substance abuse.
The padyatra witnessed enthusiastic participation from people belonging to all walks of life, including senior citizens, civil society members, social activists, Auqaf committee members, elected representatives, youth, students, officials, and the general public, who came together to pledge their resolve against the menace of drug abuse.
While addressing the gathering, MLA Tral, Rafiq Ahmad Naik, highlighted the harmful effects of drug abuse, stating that it has adversely impacted the lives and careers of youth and disrupted families. He advised young people to stay away from drugs and contribute towards building a healthy and progressive society.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Pulwama, Waheed Ur Rehman Para, said that drug abuse is a serious concern affecting the youth of society and emphasized the need for active community participation to effectively combat this menace. He called for collective efforts to create awareness and ensure a drug-free environment.
