KISHTWAR, MAY 01: The Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS) Kishtwar organized an exciting edition of the “Leagues of Classics” U/17 Boys Cricket Tournament across two prestigious venues — Chowgan Ground and Padder Sports Stadium — under the flagship 100-day campaign “Choose Sports Not Drugs.

Teams from across 20 districts of Jammu & Kashmir are participating in the tournament adding great momentum to the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Bharat Abhiyan.

The Tournament featured exciting matches, including Kulgam vs. Jammu held at Chowgan Ground. Batting first, Jammu set a target of 47 runs. Kulgam chased down the target comfortably, securing a 10-wicket victory.
Another Match was played between Kishtwar and Kupwara at Padder Sports Stadium. Kupwara defeated Kishtwar by 9 wickets.

Similarly, in a contest between Srinagar and Udhampur , the former clinched a convincing victory, winning the match by 28 runs in a competitive and high-spirited contest.

The tournament is an integral part of the “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Bharat Abhiyan” — a 100-day anti-drug awareness campaign spanning 20 districts across Jammu & Kashmir. The initiative aims to channel the energy of youth toward sports and physical activities, promoting a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.

By organizing grassroots-level cricket leagues, the department endeavors to provide young athletes with a competitive platform while reinforcing the message that sports are the best alternative to substance abuse.

The entire tournament is being conducted under the direction of Director General YSS J&K Anuradha Gupta and under the supervision of District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma.
