UDHAMPUR, MAY 16: The second day of the three-day Annual Shiv-Parvati Moungri Mela witnessed an overwhelming gathering of devotees and visitors from within and outside the district, who thronged the mela site to pay obeisance to lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
Cultural Wing of the Information Department- J&K presented a scintillating theme based cultural programme, promoting communal harmony, mutual love and brotherhood.
Artists from the Information Department, renowned local performers and students from the educational institutions presented vibrant cultural performances, which were highly appreciated by the audience.
DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Shiv Kumar Sharma attended the event as the chief guest. Deputy Director Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur Benam Tosh, Mela Officer (Tehsildar Moungri) Arushi Sabharwal, along with other officers and a large number of local residents, witnessed the colourful cultural programme.
Meanwhile, the Department of Youth Services & Sports, in collaboration with the Education Department, organised rural sports activities, witnessing enthusiastic participation from local youth.
The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth and successful conduct of the mela with adequate facilities related to drinking water, electricity, healthcare, security and transportation.
Temporary sweet stalls, toy shops and eateries set up by local traders and outside vendors remained a major attraction for the visitors at the mela site.
Meanwhile, teams of officers continued strict checking of the quality and rates of eatables to ensure convenience and safety of the general public.
