Government College of Education holds Cycle Rally to promote sustainability

SRINAGAR, JUNE 04: NSS Wing of Government College of Education, in collaboration with the Physical Education Department and the College Wellness and Anti-Substance Cell (CWASC), organized a cycle rally on Thursday under the theme “Pedal Towards Sustainability” to promote environmental conservation and sustainable living.

The rally commenced from the college campus and concluded at Nishat Garden, covering a distance of approximately 11 kilometers. It was flagged off by Dr. Altaf Shah Syed in the presence of Dr. Syed Bilquees Aslam Shah, Daljeet Kour, Dr. Qazi Inam Saboor, faculty members, and students.
A total of 35 students enthusiastically participated in the event.

Dr. Seema Naz, Principal Government College of Education (IASE), congratulated the NSS Wing, the Physical Education Department, and CWASC for successfully organizing the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Altaf Shah Syed, NSS Programme Officer said that the initiative aimed to promote environmental sustainability, encourage eco-friendly modes of transportation, and foster healthy lifestyles among students and the wider community.

He emphasized that such activities help sensitize young people to environmental challenges and inspire them to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives.

Dr. Syed Bilquees Aslam Shah Department of Education also highlighted the significance of the rally, stating that awareness-driven initiatives play a vital role in encouraging environmental responsibility and sustainable habits among students and society at large.

During the rally, participants carried placards and displayed messages emphasizing the importance of reducing carbon emissions, conserving natural resources, and protecting the environment. The organizers also underscored the benefits of cycling as an environmentally friendly mode of transport that helps reduce pollution, conserve energy, and improve physical well-being.

The event witnessed active participation from students and staff, reflecting the institution’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable development. The rally concluded at Nishat Garden, where participants pledged to support green initiatives and contribute towards building a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future.
