BUDGAM, JUNE 04: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, today visited Markazi Imambada Yousuf Abad, Bemina, to review the arrangements being put in place for the smooth observance of the ensuing holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram
During the visit, the DC inspected the facilities available at the Imambara and interacted with local residents, religious leaders, and members of the management committee to assess their requirements and concerns ahead of the month.
The local representatives projected several demands and issues which included repair and restoration of damaged stretches on the Mirgund Bemina Road, ensuring uninterrupted power supply with adequate backup arrangements, augmentation of potable water supply, strengthening of medical facilities, and development of a dedicated parking space at the Imambara to facilitate devotees and visitors.
During the visit the DC directed the concerned departments to take all necessary measures to ensure seamless arrangements during Muharram-ul-Haram.
He instructed the Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department to examine and address the damaged road stretches on priority.
He also emphasized the need for a comprehensive traffic management plan to ensure the convenience of mourners.
The DC further directed the Power Development Department (PDD) to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply and adequate backup arrangements during religious gatherings.
He also instructed the Jal Shakti Department to maintain regular and sufficient water supply throughout the Muharram days.
Regarding healthcare services, the DC directed the Health Department to ensure the availability of medical teams, ambulances, and essential healthcare facilities during major congregations.
He also assured the local representatives that the proposal for development of parking facilities at the Imambada would be examined and taken up with the concerned authorities.
The DC stressed the importance of close coordination among all line departments and directed officers to complete all necessary arrangements well in advance.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the District Administration has already initiated advance preparations for the smooth and peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Harram across the district.
He informed that necessary directions have been issued well in advance to all concerned departments to ensure adequate arrangements and essential facilities for mourners, including power and water supply, healthcare services, sanitation, traffic management, and other public utilities.
Besides, Joint Director Planning Budgam, Javaid Ahmad Najar; Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Budgam; Executive Engineers of R&B, Jal Shakti and PDD, representative of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation, officers from the concerned departments, were present during visit of the DC.
