KATHUA, JUNE 18: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today chaired a meeting to review preparedness and arrangements for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 in the district. SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma was also present.
Discussions were held on the progress of various executing agencies regarding establishment of facilities and service points at the Lakhanpur Yatri Facilitation Centre. The meeting also reviewed arrangements for RFID and E-KYC counters, a 10-bedded healthcare unit, drinking water points, lavatory units and other basic amenities for Yatris.
The DC directed all agencies concerned to expedite work and ensure timely completion of barricading, road BT works, removal of weeds, lighting arrangements and other allied infrastructure. Departments concerned were directed to ensure adequate manpower, resources and inter-departmental coordination for effective implementation of arrangements.
Preparedness of Lodgement Centres and the contingency plan for any exigency during the Yatra period were also discussed. The meeting deliberated on transit of Yatris through the district and protocols for smooth movement of Yatra vehicles towards the Jammu Base Camp.
It was informed that a mock drill will be conducted on June 25, 2026 to assess preparedness and coordination among all stakeholders ahead of the Yatra.
Among those present were Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua Mahima Madan, Chief Planning Officer Ranjeet Thakur, SDM Hiranagar Phulail Singh and other officers from the district administration.
