RAJOURI, JUNE 24: Municipal Council Rajouri today organised the District-Level PM SVANidhi Mahotsav at Dak Bungalow Rajouri with participation of around 150 street vendors and representatives from all five Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of the district: Rajouri, Nowshera, Thanamandi, Kalakote and Sunderbani.

Guests were welcomed by Executive Officer Municipal Council Rajouri Yousuf-ul-Umar. Street vendors were felicitated for their contribution to the urban economy and awareness sessions were conducted on the PM SVANidhi Scheme, digital transactions, financial inclusion, sanitation, hygiene and public health. Representatives from banks and departments sensitised vendors about government welfare schemes and encouraged adoption of digital payment mechanisms.

Addressing the gathering, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Ravi Kumar Sihag highlighted the role of the PM SVANidhi Scheme in empowering street vendors through access to institutional credit and social security benefits. He urged vendors to avail scheme benefits and use digital platforms for expanding their businesses and appreciated the efforts of the ULBs in promoting financial inclusion.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Executive Officer, who reiterated the administration’s commitment to the welfare and socio-economic upliftment of street vendors across the district.

Among those present were Assistant Commissioner Revenue Mohd Jahangir Khan, District Statistical and Evaluation Officer Sandeep Sharma, Executive Officers of various ULBs, bank officials, SHO, members of the Town Vending Committee, former President Municipal Council Mohd Arif, former Councillors and other distinguished guests.
