DC Kathua reviews restoration of roads, public infrastructure damaged due to heavy rains

KATHUA, JULY 27: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today chaired a meeting of officers from various line departments to review the damage caused to roads and other public infrastructure by recent heavy rains and assess the progress of restoration works.

The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the extent of damage to roads and government infrastructure and sought updates on the restoration measures being undertaken by the departments concerned.

Executive Engineers of the respective departments apprised the meeting of the status of damaged roads and public assets. The Executive Engineers, PWD Kathua and Billawar informed that most damaged roads have been restored, while work on the remaining stretches is progressing on priority.

The Executive Engineer, PMGSY Billawar informed that of 18 affected roads, 17 have been restored, while work on the remaining road is underway and expected to be completed shortly.

The DC directed all executing agencies to expedite restoration works and restore damaged flood protection structures on priority to safeguard lives, agricultural land and public property from future flood risks.

He emphasised strict adherence to quality standards and timely completion of all restoration works.
Among those present were ADDC Kathua Surinder Mohan, IAS Probationer Nidhi, CPO Ranjeet Thakur, ACR Vishav Partap Singh, ACD Akhil Sadotra, XEN PWD Kathua, XEN PDD, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer and Chief Executive Officers of Municipal Committees Lakhanpur and Parole, besides other officers concerned.
