DC Shopian releases District Statistical Handbook 2024–25

SHOPIAN, AUGUST 01: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta today released the District Statistical Handbook Shopian 2024–25 at a function held here at Mini- Secretariat, Shopian.

The Handbook was released in presence of ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone, ADC, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz, DSEO, Bilqees Zahoor and other concerned officers and officials.

Prepared by the District Statistics & Evaluation Office, Shopian, the Handbook is a comprehensive annual publication containing authentic and updated statistical information on the district’s key socio-economic sectors, including population, agriculture, horticulture, education, health, infrastructure, economy, financial inclusion, employment, social welfare and other developmental indicators. The publication is expected to serve as a vital reference document for evidence-based planning, policy formulation, monitoring, evaluation and research.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner underscored the importance of reliable and timely statistics in strengthening data-driven governance and informed decision-making. He appreciated the efforts of the District Statistics & Evaluation Office, Shopian and acknowledged the cooperation of all line departments in providing quality data for the publication.

District Statistics & Evaluation Officer, Shopian, informed that the Handbook has been aligned with the District Good Governance Index (DGGI) framework and incorporates the latest available statistical data across major developmental sectors. She expressed gratitude to the District Administration and all stakeholder departments for their support in the successful compilation of the publication.

The District Statistical Handbook 2024–25 is expected to benefit government departments, policymakers, researchers, academicians, students, development professionals and other stakeholders by providing a reliable and comprehensive statistical profile of the district.
