SRINAGAR, AUGUST 15: The celebrations for 80th Independence Day were today held in various educational institutions and Government departments across Kashmir division with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm.
SDD: Director, Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr. Owais Ahmad, hoisted the National Flag at Government Polytechnic for Women, Srinagar today as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
The flag-hoisting ceremony was held on the college grounds and was attended by a large and diverse gathering that included senior officials from the Police and paramilitary forces, representatives from the Directorate of Skill Development, principals of polytechnic colleges and ITIs across the region, faculty members, and students from various polytechnic colleges and ITIs.
The event commenced with the National Anthem following the flag hoist. In his brief address, Dr. Owais Ahmad highlighted the importance of skill development in nation building and urged students to seize vocational training opportunities to contribute to local and national development. He lauded the role of technical education institutions in empowering youth and praised the collaboration between training providers and industry partners in supporting community resilience.
Dr. Owais Ahmad welcomed and thanked all participating institutions and security personnel for their support in ensuring the ceremony’s smooth conduct. The programme also included patriotic songs by students and trainees, showcasing discipline and enthusiasm.
He also felicitated the students of Government Polytechnic for Women for their exemplary performance in the recently held examinations, applauding their hard work and dedication.
The occasion reinforced the Department of Skill Development’s commitment to merging patriotic values with practical skill-building, and to preparing students for meaningful employment and entrepreneurship.
JKEDI: The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) celebrated the 80th Independence Day at its main campus at Sempora, Pampore, with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm.
The National Flag was hoisted by Mohd. Younis Malik, Director, JKEDI, in the presence of officers and officials of the Institute.
Addressing the employees, Director, JKEDI emphasized the importance of strengthening entrepreneurship and self-employment as key drivers of economic development in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He stressed the need to scale up entrepreneurial activities and create greater opportunities for sustainable livelihoods and employment generation.
The Director reiterated the vision of “Viksit Bharat @2047”, underlining that entrepreneurship and self-employment would play a major role in shaping a developed and economically empowered India.
He called upon the employees of JKEDI to contribute towards creating a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Union Territory and to work with renewed commitment towards empowering aspiring entrepreneurs.
The Independence Day celebrations concluded with a renewed pledge by the officers and officials of JKEDI to contribute towards the socio-economic development of Jammu and Kashmir and the larger vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
GCOE: Government College of Education (Institute of Advanced Studies in Education), M.A. Road, Srinagar, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour, enthusiasm and a strong sense of national pride on its campus today.
The celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Professor (Dr) Seema Naz, Nodal Principal, Kashmir Division Colleges, and Principal, GCOE, who also took the ceremonial salute. The National Anthem was sung thereafter, creating a solemn and deeply patriotic atmosphere across the college campus.
The ceremony was attended by members of the teaching and non-teaching staff, along with a large number of students, who participated enthusiastically in the Independence Day celebrations. The college campus was appropriately decorated for the occasion, reflecting the spirit of national unity, patriotism and the values enshrined in the Constitution of India.
Addressing the gathering, Professor (Dr) Seema Naz extended warm greetings to the staff and students on the occasion of Independence Day. She highlighted the historical significance of the day and paid tribute to the freedom fighters and national leaders whose sacrifices and contributions paved the way for India’s independence.
Dr. Naz underscored the vital role of educational institutions in shaping responsible, informed and socially conscious citizens. She emphasized that education is not merely a means of acquiring knowledge but also a powerful instrument for strengthening democracy, promoting social harmony and fostering a sense of responsibility towards the nation.
Urging students to uphold the ideals of the Constitution, she called upon them to embrace unity in diversity, discipline, integrity, inclusiveness and social responsibility. She encouraged the students to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress by pursuing excellence in education, respecting democratic values and actively participating in the development of society.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment by the staff and students to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, honesty and integrity and to contribute towards nation-building and the realization of the ideals of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity enshrined in the Constitution of India.
GMS Moghalpura: A solemn function was organised today to celebrate Independence Day at Government Middle School (GMS), Moghalpura.
The programme was attended by local dignitaries, parents, students and teaching staff in large numbers.
The function was presided over by Headmaster Muhammad Rafi Bajar.
Addressing the gathering, he said that love for the nation, loyalty and a spirit of service should be instilled in every heart. He stated that every citizen must discharge their duties with honesty and sincerity for the progress and prosperity of the country.
He further said that citizens should remain ready at all times to serve the nation and should strive to bring honour to the country through hard work, competence and good character. He added that as students represent the future of the nation, it is essential to inculcate in them, along with education, a sense of patriotism, discipline, unity and national responsibility.
The function concluded with special prayers offered for the security, progress and prosperity of the country.
