UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 16: The District legal Services Authority today reviewed the implementation of the directions of Supreme Court of India in:- “S. Rajaseekaran vs Union of India & Ors”, including Hit and Run Motor Accident Compensation Scheme, 2022 here at a meeting of Scheme Committee members.
The meeting was chaired by Secretary DLSA Sumati Sharma in her Office Chamber and attended by Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Dr. Umesh Shan; Incharge Dy. SP Headquarters Jitendar Singh Sambyal and Litigation Officer Rimpy Sharma- all members.
The meeting discussed modalities for spreading public awareness about the Compensation to be provided to Victims of Hit and Run Motor Accidents as recommended by the SC.
The meeting observed that generating mass public awareness about the scheme i.e. Victim Compensation of Hit and Run Motor Accidents Scheme, 2022 form key of the Committee guidelines. The meeting noted that it is mandatory for every officer in charge of Police Station to forward FAR (First Accident Report) to the CEO (Claim Enquiry Officer) within one month from the date of accident.
The Committee also recommended that I/Os should spread awareness amongst the victims and the victim’s family about compensation and report to us how many cases were registered and how many were compensated in this year.
Member Jitendar Singh Sambyal, Incharge, Deputy Superintendent of Police Hqrs, Udhampur was asked to spread awareness amongst the SHOs of District Udhampur about the scheme.
The meeting decided to organize an awareness programme or training for t I/Os dealing with the hit and run cases.
The Secretary DLSA Udhampur advised the Members of the Committee to submit reports regarding implementation of the scheme in next two months.
