KATHUA, OCTOBER 02: The week-long Seva Parv 2026 campaign culminated today in district Kathua with a series of cleanliness drives, environmental awareness programmes, sanitation activities and community outreach initiatives, reaffirming the spirit of seva, cleanliness, civic responsibility and public participation.
Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma participated in activities at Panchayat Karroh, Block Keerian Gangyal. He distributed books among children and participated in a plantation drive. Addressing the gathering, the DC emphasized that the spirit of Seva Parv should continue beyond the campaign, with citizens making cleanliness, environmental responsibility, public service and community participation an integral part of their daily life.
At Panchayat Falote B, Block Nagri, the concluding Seva Parv activities witnessed the participation of ADC Mahima Madan, officials of line departments, Ex-PRI representatives and locals. The programme featured awareness on welfare schemes and a plantation drive, reinforcing the spirit of Jan Bhagidari, environmental conservation and grassroots development.
As part of the concluding activities, JKPCC Kathua conducted an awareness-cum-enforcement drive against banned polythene and single-use plastic at Hatli Morh, sensitizing market-goers about their harmful environmental impact. Approximately 8 kg of banned polythene (below 120 microns) and 350 grams of SUP were seized during the drive.
The Municipal Committee Basohli organised a special Swachhta drive with active participation of employees and sanitation staff. Cleanliness drives were also conducted by the Basohli Forest Division at Bani and Basohli, promoting cleanliness and environmental responsibility in and around public and forest areas.
A special sanitation drive was organised at Bani with the participation of employees from various departments.
The initiative reinforced the message of collective responsibility and encouraged government employees and citizens to contribute towards maintaining clean and hygienic surroundings.
In Hiranagar, the Seva Parv celebrations concluded with a programme at Sub-District Hospital commemorating the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and reinforcing the message of cleanliness, public service and community participation. A cleanliness drive was conducted in the hospital premises, while Certificates of Appreciation were presented to municipal workers and Safai Karamcharis for their dedicated services towards sanitation and cleanliness.
