REASI, OCTOBER 22: District Development Commissioner Reasi Kumar Abhishek today chaired a public grievances redressal camp here at Panchayat Ghar Shadol in Gulabgarh area to interact with residents, listen to their grievances and assess the local development needs.

During the camp, residents of Shadol and adjoining areas raised several demands concerning basic amenities, public services and infrastructure development. Their major demands included filling of vacant posts in schools and health institutions, promotion of Gulabgarh as a tourist destination, construction of a Public Works Department (PWD) guest house in the area, ultrasound machine at Community Health Centre Mahore and establishment of an extension centre of the Animal Husbandry Department.

The residents also sought early completion and repair of PMGSY roads, verification and release of pending PM-KISAN installments, payment of land compensation and opening of a Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch and an LPG gas agency in the area.

Other demands included repair of the local school building, provision of snow-clearance machinery, operationalisation of completed water reservoirs, coverage of eligible beneficiaries under PMAY, improvement of school infrastructure, provision of an ambulance, better mobile network connectivity, establishment of a veterinary centre and construction of a playground.

The DDC gave a patient hearing and took note of the issues raised. He directed the Health Department to map areas requiring ambulance services and assured the residents that the same would be provided shortly. He also instructed the department to organise a disability assessment camp at Mahore and prepare a Detailed Project Report for the proposed Primary Health Centre at Gulabgarh.

Reviewing issues related to agricultural welfare, the DDC directed the Agriculture Department to verify the reasons for non-receipt of PM-KISAN installments by eligible beneficiaries and take necessary action. He also asked the Horticulture Department to organise awareness camps in the area and promote the plantation of suitable, high-quality saplings to encourage horticultural activities and enhance livelihood opportunities.

Taking note of staff shortage across different departments, the DDC directed the concerned officers to explore the rotational deployment of available staff in areas facing shortage to ensure the continued delivery of essential public services. He further assured the residents that developmental works in the Gulabgarh area would be taken up subject to the availability of funds, while emphasising the need for coordinated efforts to address public concerns and improve access to essential services.

Additional District Development Commissioner Krishan Lal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sushil Kesar, Chief Planning Officer Narinder Kumar, Programme Officer POSHAN, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Mahore, Assistant Commissioner Development, District Social Welfare Officer and other concerned officers were present at the grievance redressal camp.
