Police arrests three drug peddlers in Gbl, Bpr

Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Ganderbal and Bandipora district and have recovered contraband substances from their possession as well, a police spokesman said on Monday.

He said a Police party of Police Station Kangan arrested a drug peddler at a checkpoint established at Iqbal Abad Kangan.

The police have identified the accused as Muzaffar Ahmad Jagal son of Nazir Ahmad Jagal resident of Naranag, Kangan.

“During the search, contraband substance was recovered from his possession. He has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody,” the spokesman said.

Similarly in Bandipora, officers from Police Post Nowgam arrested two drug peddlers at a checkpoint established on Tularzoo Gunchipora Road.

The police have identified the arrested as Mukhtar Ahmad Wani son of Mohammad Yousuf Wani and Nayeem Ahmad Zargar son of Ghulam Rasool Zargar, both residents of Pattan.

“During the search, 7.5 kgs of Charas was recovered from their possession,” the spokesman said.

He said cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective Police stations and investigations have been initiated.
