Bandipora, October 17: In order to mark the commencement of Senior Citizens Week, an awareness cum celebration event was organized by the J&K Students Welfare Mission (JKWSM) in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare Bandipora.
The event was organised at the Senior Citizens Home Bandipora, with the aim of honoring the rights and facilities of senior citizens.
The program was attended by District Social Welfare Officer Hidaitullah Mir, members of JKSWM, senior citizens besides other concerned.
On the occasion, Noor ul Hassan delivered speech, underscoring the importance of senior citizens in our society and the need to safeguard their rights.
Chairman of the Civil Society while addressing the gathering emphasized the duty of society to care for and protect its seniors, acknowledging their immense contributions to our community.
District Social Welfare Officer, Bandipora, said that the department has planned many activities to be conducted during the said week long celebration, which includes awareness about the maintenance and welfare of parents and senior citizens act, 2007, mega awareness event about senior citizens rights, cultural exchange programme, nature walks, visit to famous tourist place, soft games/sports, health camp, creative activities using paper wastes besides other innovative initiatives.
