Srinagar, Feb 23 : Even when a week is about to pass since the inclement weather in Valley was witnessed, the recent snowfall continues to wreak havoc in scores of far off hamlets in North Kashmir with power restoration yet to take place.
According to the reports received by the news agency—, scores of hamlets in north Kashmir’s Rafiabad and Sopore are reeling under absolute darkness and acute paucity of water and electricity is leaving the local inhabitants of these villages perturbed to the core.
As per the reports, the electricity in the villages namely Zalura, Sakhipora, Najar Mohalla, Khamoh, Hundro and several others is yet to be restored even though the snowfall was witnessed five days back in these areas besides other places in Kashmir valley. It was also informed by the locals of these areas that there is no availability of ration in these areas and people are suffering for no fault.
They also alleged that no government officer has deemed it necessary to visit these far off areas in order to assess the situation and mitigate peoples suffering.
“The transformers have not been repaired that were damaged in the past. The electricity was being provided though the dilapidated wooden poles and when snow has damaged them, they are not being replaced. We are living in abject darkness and the government is not concerned at all,” locals allege
