RAMBAN, MARCH 21: Deputy Commissioner, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary today spearheaded a significant ‘Plantation Drive’ to mark the International Day of Forests by planting a chinar tree sapling at the District Administrative Complex here.
The event witnessed participation of various dignitaries like Additional Deputy Commissioner, Varunjeet Singh Charak; DFO Ramban, Abhinav Ramyotra and senior officers.
Addressing the importance of World Forestry Day, Deputy Commissioner highlighted the vital role forests play in maintaining the Earth’s delicate balance. He emphasised the need for collective efforts to address issues like deforestation and denudation.
He urged everyone to acknowledge forests’ crucial role in sustaining life and encouraged engagement in tree planting and awareness campaigns to promote forest conservation.
Similar plantation drives were conducted by the Forest Division, Ramban, under the supervision of DFO, Hitender Singh Chandel, featuring a variety of saplings including Silver Oak, Moru, Thevetia, Glauca and Deodar, showcasing the region’s ecological richness.
Participants planted saplings as part of efforts to promote environmental stewardship and community engagement in safeguarding forests for present and future generations.
