Prayer timing in Jammu Eidgah 8 am, 9 am at Jamia Masjid; 9.30 am in Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri and Ramban

People across Jammu region gear up for Eid-ul-Fitr

Jammu, Apr 09 : With the holy month of Ramzan coming to an end, Muslims across Jammu region have geared up for the Eid-ul-Fitr and markets in all major towns and district headquarters of Jammu region gave a festive look.

People were busy in last minute shopping for clothes for their children and eatables for the day of joy.

According to the news agency by keeping fast for a month, Muslims across the length and breadth of Jammu region were seen preparing for the Eid. “The butcher shops were the busiest places in the town where people had gathered to get meat and chicken for the big festival. Even though the prices of both meat and chicken have risen, still there was no one who didn’t visit these shops to get their share,” the correspondent observed.

In Jammu city, places like Talab Khatinkan, which hosts the Jamia Masjid, was the busiest place in the city followed by Ustad Mohalla, Malik Market, Bathindhi, Sunjwan, Janipur and other small pockets where Muslims reside.

All were waiting for evening time to get a look of a crescent which is expected to be seen this evening but there are always chances that it may not be seen and Eid could be on 11th day of this month.

Moreover, Seerat committees across these districts have already notified the timing for the Eid prayers which will be held in Eidgahs and Jamia Masjids. In the capital city of Jammu, the Eid prayers will be offered at several places but at central Eidgah the timing for the prayers has been kept at 8 am whereas in Jamia Masjid Talab Khatinkan the timing is at 9 am.

In Kishtwar the Eid prayers will be held at historic Chowgan parade ground at 9.30 am whereas in Ramban the prayers will be held at both old and new Jamia Masjids at 9.30 am and 9 am, respectively. In Banihal the prayers will be held at central Eidgah at 9 am and overall the Eid prayers will be held at 17 different locations across Banihal Tehsil and the timing ranges from 7.15 am to 9.30 am.

In Doda the main function of Eid prayers will be held at central Eidgah and the prayer timings has been kept at 9.30 am. The second biggest congregational prayer function of Doda tehsil will be held at Eidgah Furqanabad Ghat where the prayer timing has been kept at 9 am.

In Rajouri the prayers will be held at central Eidgah at 9.30 am and in Shadra Sharief the congregational prayers will be held at Jamia Masjid at 9.30 am.
