Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Pulwama admin reaches last village in Lurgam during SVEEP drive

PULWAMA, APRIL 24: The Lam Tral community is gearing up to enhance electoral participation through the implementation of an innovative SVEEP spearheaded by District Election Office Pulwama and community leaders.
This initiative aims to empower citizens and promote a culture of active civic engagement in the upcoming electoral processes.
The event saw participation from individuals across various demographics, including the general public, women, persons with disabilities (PWD), and senior citizens from Zisbal, Gutengoo, D. G Gund, Bangidarsoinard and neighboring villages.
The program also featured cultural presentations, including traditional performances like Ladishah and Gojri dance, Dolki by talented students and youth from the village, adding a colorful and festive touch to the occasion.
One of the key objectives of the SVEEP Awareness Programme is to foster inclusivity and ensure that every eligible citizen in Lam Tral has the necessary information and resources to participate in elections.
Through targeted outreach efforts in collaboration with local community organizations and educational institutions, the programme aims to reach individuals from all walks of life and empower them to make informed decisions at the ballot box.
Speaking about the importance of encouraging electoral participation, District Election Officer (DEO) Pulwama, Dr Basharat Qayoom emphasized that a vibrant democracy thrives on active citizen engagement.
In addition to raising awareness about the electoral process and voting rights, the SVEEP Awareness Programme in Lam Tral also focused on promoting ethical voting practices, enhancing voter registration efforts, and debunking myths and misconceptions surrounding elections. By fostering a culture of transparency, integrity, and accountability, the programme aims to build trust in the electoral system and encourage widespread participation in upcoming polls.
