LG Manoj Sinha challenges Rahul Gandhi’s ‘King’ remark, ‘Vows to resign if over 75% public don’t approve of work in last five years’

Srinagar, Sept 12 : Responding sharply to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s recent comments comparing his governance to that of a ‘king,’ Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha asserted that he would resign if more than 75% of the public do not agree that significant work has been done for their welfare over the past five years.

Speaking at Aaj Tak’s ‘Panchayat’ event, Sinha suggested a secret ballot to assess the public mood following the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.

“He (Rahul Gandhi) should seek the opinion of the people. If a secret ballot shows that less than 75% believe their welfare has improved in the last five years, I will resign,” Sinha said.

Rahul Gandhi had recently visited Kashmir and criticized Sinha’s leadership, drawing a comparison between his governance style and that of monarchs.

Highlighting the record voter turnout in recent Lok Sabha polls, Sinha emphasized that it reflected the people’s recognition of Pakistan’s conspiracy and their belief in a future aligned with India.

Jammu and Kashmir recorded a 58.46% voter turnout, the highest in 35 years, according to the Election Commission.

“The people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the Valley, have placed their faith in Indian democracy,” Sinha remarked.(KINS)
