BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 19: The Expenditure Observer for Baramulla district, Sidlingappa Teli conducted the first inspection of expenditure registers for candidates contesting Assembly Elections in the 7 Assembly Constituencies (ACs) of District Baramulla at Dak Bunglow here.

He was accompanied by the district’s Expenditure Monitoring Cell Nodal Officer, 7 Assistant Expenditure Observers (AEOs), and their teams.

All 102 candidates contesting the elections in Baramulla were instructed to submit their expenditure registers for review. However, only 45 candidates attended the meeting and presented their registers for inspection.

During the inspection, the Expenditure Observer emphasized that all election-related expenses must be recorded in the candidates’ registers.

AEOs cross-verified the entries with their shadow registers, and candidates were directed to ensure consistency in their records.

The 57 candidates who failed to appear or submit their registers have been reported to the concerned Returning Officers, who will issue Show Cause Notices and take legal action as per the law.

The next inspections are scheduled for September 24 and September 28, 2024. All candidates are required to submit their complete expenditure registers for further review.
