UDHAMPUR, NOVEMBER 11: SANKALP- Hub for Empowerment of Women Udhampur, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai and supervision of District Social Welfare officer Kanika Gupta, on Monday hosted an awareness programme on Digital literacy, Scholarship schemes, ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ besides a Career counselling program at Government Higher Secondary School Pakhlai.
The event was attended by around 200 participants including the Principal, staff and students.
Gender Specialist HEW and resource person from TSWO office highlighted the importance of digital literacy and listed different women centric schemes including provision of Pension for Widows, SMAS, loan schemes, PMMVY etc. They also introduced the students to pre- matric and post-matric scholarship schemes offered by the social welfare Department with certain eligibility criteria.
The program also highlighted the psychological, social and economic consequences of drug addiction and its impacts on individuals and communities.
The Principal of the school presented the vote of thanks and underlined the need to hold such programs on regular intervals to update students about the welfare schemes launched by the government
Later, the Department of Social welfare gave away School bags and wrist watches to meritorious girls under the aegis of BBBP and water bottles to needy boys under Nasha Mukti Bharat.
