Canteen services inaugurated at GDC Marh

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 25: Newly constructed canteen at Government Degree College Marh was today thrown open for the students and faculty members by the College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh KumarKoul.

The entire teaching and non-teaching staff of the college, students, college alumni, staff from Middle School Dhateryal and staff members of Zonal Education Office Marh participated in the inaugural ceremony.

The Principal, in his inaugural address, said that a long pending demand of the students for the canteen facility has been met today. He thanked the Higher Education Department for providing the required Funds.

Earlier, the event commenced with the lighting of ceremonial lamp amid mantra chanting led by the Principal.
The Principal lauded the tireless efforts of the canteen committee comprising Prof. Imtiaz Shahid, Prof. Madhvi Parasher, Dr. Ram Dayal, Prof. Surbhi Gupta and Mohammad Yaqoob. He also highlighted the importance of this facility as a new addition to the student amenities offered in the college viz-a-viz NAAC preparedness.

The canteen was officially named “डोगरारसोऽ” to reflect the cultural heritage of the region. He wished that the canteen would follow food safety standards, hygiene and cleanliness in and around the premises as per guidelines required for running such food establishments.

The canteen has been equipped with a separate kitchen, CCTV camera, Cafeteria Tables and Chairs, WiFi, LED, separate bore well water facility, newspaper and magazine stand. The facility is a testament to the college’s commitment to provide safe and healthy experience to the students.

The event concluded with a group photograph featuring the Principal, faculty members, IQAC and the canteen committee, outside the canteen symbolizing the collaborative effort behind the initiative.
