Sopore, Dec 05 : A residential property in north Kashmir’s Sopore was on Thursday attached by Sopore Police under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for allegedly harboring foreign militants, who were killed in a joint operation earlier this year.

According to the news agency the single-storied house, along with 16 Marlas of land (Survey No. 354), belongs to Mohammad Subhan Khan, son of Abdul Satar Khan, a resident of Nowpora Kalan was attached. The attachment was carried out in connection with Case FIR No. 105/2024 registered at Police Station Sopore.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Sopore, Divya D said that the house owner provided logistical support to the militants, who were neutralized in April 2024 during a coordinated security operation. “The property was used to aid foreign militants. Such actions will face strict legal consequences,” the SP stated.

The attachment process was executed in the presence of a duly constituted police team and the Executive Magistrate, ensuring all legal formalities were followed. The move highlights the determination of Sopore Police to crack down on those supporting terrorism in any form, a police official said.

Pertinently, on April 26, 2024, two militants were killed in an overnight encounter at Nowpura in Sopore. The terrorists killed in the gunfight were later identified as Pakistani nationals including commander Saifullah, who was active for a long time.

During the operation, two soldiers and a civilian had also received bullet injuries—
