UDHAMPUR, DECEMBER 10: The 16-day-long activism campaign against gender-based violence culminated in Udhampur with an awareness programme jointly organised by Udhampur Police, Social Welfare Department, and the Special Cell for Women. The event was part of the 2024 global campaign themed “Stop Violence against Women and Girls.”

The programme, held with active participation from school and college students, featured a thought-provoking act addressing the issue of violence against women. It was chaired by DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Rayees Mohd. Bhat, SSP Udhampur Amod Ashok Nagpure, ADC Udhampur Prem Singh and District Social Welfare Officer Kanika Gupta. Azra Parveen and Sheetal, professional social workers from the Special Cell for Women, also contributed significantly to the event.

DIG Rayees Mohd. Bhat emphasised the importance of upholding women’s rights and called on all stakeholders to work collectively towards empowering women and fostering gender equality.
The campaign concluded on a hopeful note, with a call for united efforts to combat gender-based violence and create a society free from such discrimination.

The event was supported by JKP Media Centre PHQ, Zonal Police Media Centre Jammu and Udhampur Reasi Range Police Media Centre.
