KATHUA, DECEMBER 17: As part of the ongoing efforts to promote gender equality and empower the girl child, an awareness program under the flagship initiative Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) was today organized by the Child Development Project Office (CDPO), Poshan Hiranagar in collaboration with Social Welfare Department Kathua.

The awareness program featured an impactful Nukkad Natak presented by the renowned theatre group Rangyug, which captivated the audience with its powerful message.

The event, held at Government Higher Secondary School, Kootah and subsequently at GHSS Hiranagar, witnessed active participation from students, teachers, and members of the local community.

The thought-provoking street play highlighted the critical importance of educating girls, eliminating gender discrimination, and ensuring equal opportunities for their growth and development.

Speaking on the occasion, Child Development Project Officer, Poshan Hiranagar Priyalakshmi, said, “The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao program is not just a campaign but a call to action for everyone to ensure the survival, protection, and education of the girl child. Events like these help spread awareness at the grassroots level, inspiring communities to embrace positive change.” She also underscored the synergy between Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Poshan Abhiyaan, saying, “Our efforts under the Poshan Bhi, Padhai Bhi initiative focus on integrating child nutrition with early education, empowering Anganwadi workers and educators to ensure holistic development for children. By combining good nutrition with quality education, we are building a stronger foundation for the future, especially for young girls who hold the key to a progressive society.”

Principal GHSS appreciated the efforts of Poshan Project Hiranagar for reaching out to the stakeholders and sensitised about them about the scope of BBBP scheme and how it ensures the overall social security of the girl child.

The program concluded with an interactive session where community members expressed their commitment to supporting the cause.
