KTA urges Govt to provide compensation to business owners affected by fire incidents

Srinagar, Jan 10 : The Kashmir Trade Alliance (KTA) has called upon the government to extend adequate compensation to business owners who have suffered losses due to recent fire incidents in the Valley.

The appeal follows a disturbing trend of increasing fire cases that have resulted in extensive damage to shops and business establishments in Kashmir.

Aijaz Shahdhar, President of the KTA, emphasized the growing concern surrounding fire safety and the need for a more inclusive relief framework.

“While the administration has made efforts to provide assistance to households affected by fires, it is crucial to remember that many small shopkeepers operate without insurance coverage and, therefore, fall through the cracks of these relief measures,” he said in a statement issued to the news agency.

The KTA is particularly alarmed by the alarming rise in fire incidents during the winter months, which poses a significant threat to local businesses. Reports indicate that over 40 fire incidents occurred within the first week of this year alone, devastating numerous shops and business establishments across the region.

In light of this escalating crisis, the Kashmir Trade Alliance is urging the government to take immediate action to develop a relief fund dedicated to compensating affected small business owners.

The KTA believes that every business, regardless of its size, deserves the support and protection of the administration in times of hardship. “We call upon the government to recognize the plight of our small businesses and provide a safety net for those impacted by unforeseen disasters,” Shahdhar added.

“It is essential that measures are put in place to ensure that all business owners have access to necessary resources for recovery and rebuilding.”
