The mission, aimed at providing functional household tap connections (FHTC) to every rural household, is one of the flagship programs of the Government of India to ensure universal access to safe and adequate drinking water.

During the meeting, the DDC reviewed the ongoing work in the district under JJM, including the status of water supply schemes, the number of households covered under FHTC, and the progress of the infrastructure being developed to ensure the sustainability and quality of water supply.

It was informed in the meeting that 1.28 lakh of the total 1.56 lakh targeted households have been connected with functional tap connections.

It was also informed that out of 247 allotted Water Supply Schemes, 115 works have been completed in PHE Divisions of Kupwara & Handwara and SSD Tangdar and work is in progress to complete the rest of the schemes.
Regarding Dug well works, it was informed that 14 works were allotted in the district out of which 11 stands completed, besides, 10 bore-wells were also completed.
