BUDGAM, FEBRUARY 17: The District Administration Budgam in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA), Department of Science & Technology, has launched the solarization of government buildings in District Budgam under the PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna.

The initiative was launched by Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Akshay Labroo at DC office Complex. On the occasion, 50KW capacity panels were installed on both old & new buildings of DC Office.

More than 90 government buildings across District Budgam shall be covered under this initiative in the next 3 months, the district administration said.

Speaking at the occasion, DC highlighted the benefits of the scheme, emphasizing its role in reducing the financial burden of electricity bills for government institutions, decreasing reliance on conventional energy sources, and promoting environmental sustainability.

He stressed upon the agency to ensure the smooth and timely implementation of the project while maintaining efficiency of the project.

Labroo said all major government buildings have been identified for solarization. These buildings will be connected to the utility grid through the Net-Metering mechanism facilitated by KPDCL, ensuring accurate energy accounting through solar power.

On the occasion, GM DIC, ACR, CPO, Executive engineer KPDCL, AEE JAKEDA and officers of JAKEDA were present.
