REASI, FEBRUARY 28: District Magistrate Nidhi Malik today chaired the monthly meeting of the District level Committee under Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) to assess and strengthen Drug control measures in the region.

Taking a thorough review of enforcement measures, the DM directed local police to identify hot spots where drug peddlers and addicts are active. She emphasized the need to adopt a targeted approach to ensure effective enforcement in these areas.

Stressing on community awareness, she called for launching extensive campaigns in educational institutions to educate youth about the dangers of drug addiction. The DM directed SDMs to conduct Panchayat level campaigns under the supervision of local Tehsildars, CDPOs and BDOs with active community participation and inputs from intellectuals and religious leaders.

The Police administration was asked to collaborate with the drug control department to conduct regular checking of pharmacies to enforce compliance with government regulations. She also directed authorities to establish channels to identify and destroy illicit poppy cultivation, followed by strict legal action against those involved in such activities.

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) was asked to monitor the follow-up care of persons treated for drug de-addiction, ensuring their proper rehabilitation and continued support. She concluded by reaffirming the district administration’s commitment to fighting the drug crisis in “full mission mode,” with a coordinated approach involving law enforcement, medical professionals, community leaders and educational institutions.

ADC Reasi Rakesh Kumar, ACR Anshumali Sharma, SDMs, Tehsildars, DSWO, Dy. SP HQ, CMO, CEO, DIO, officials from drug control and Excise departments and other concerned officials were present.
