POONCH, MARCH 05: In a significant development aimed at boosting the dairy sector in Poonch, Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal inaugurated two Automatic Milk Collection Units (AMCUs) in Village Khanetar, Tehsil Haveli today.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Younis, along with other concerned officers and officials.

The units, established by the Khanetar Dairy Cooperative Society, Kuniyan, Poonch, and the Sain Baba Self Help Group, Bandichechian, Poonch, represent a key milestone under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and the Dairy Development initiative in Jammu and Kashmir.

This event marks an essential step toward enhancing the region’s dairy infrastructure, promoting rural empowerment, and supporting local farmers.

In his address, Deputy Commissioner appreciated the dedication of local dairy farmers and self-help groups, recognizing their significant contributions to improving milk production and uplifting rural livelihoods. He emphasized that such initiatives are vital for achieving self-sustainability and ensuring financial stability for farmers in the region.

Chief Animal Husbandry Officer also highlighted the crucial role of the Animal Husbandry Department in integrating modern technology into the dairy industry, ensuring that local farmers can thrive and improve the quality of their produce.

The establishment of the AMCUs will streamline the milk collection process, ensuring higher quality control and improved processing standards.

Additionally, the formation of the Sain Baba Self Help Group focuses on empowering local women, fostering community-driven development, and contributing to the overall prosperity of the region.

The inauguration event was well-attended by local farmers, community members, and various dignitaries, all of whom expressed strong support for the initiative and shared optimism for the future of the dairy industry in Poonch.
