Politics of division, polarisation galore – Mandate 2022

While things remain in the election mode across the country, particularly in some of the states that are up for polls and are important for setting the tone of the country concerning the general elections, the atmosphere seems to have been vitiated even as people who once voted for the current dispensation are raising question while as many are expressing happiness over the work of the NDA Government in the country.
However, as the tones remain high amid elections, parts of the country are witnessing issues like that of one we had in Karnataka. The attempts of polarization are on even as some attempts turn out to be successful while some are witnessing utter failure.
There is an element of division also getting noticed during the elections, depicted by the statements of UP CM, Yogi Adityanath when he asked people to vote for BJP to prevent UP from becoming Kerala, or Kashmir for that matter. However, Mr CM forgot that Kerala has the best health care system in the country; it has set records in the literacy rate while the UP continues to struggle with education, let alone witnessing a development in the healthcare infrastructure. While we won’t talk about Kashmir, Kerala can be standard for any aspiring state in the attempts needed to be made to achieve excellence in every sector.
On the other hand, what is missing from the scene is the campaigning based on the work done. There have been statements coming from the politicians striking communal chords while they avoid commenting or highlighting what they have done when they were in power. The response from the public is in a dire need of change. People need to decide on the work done by the political parties and those who are fanning the communal fire need to be side-lined.
As things emerge, we are also witnessing some sections of people with the work of the BJP even as some who voted for the BJP in general elections are dismayed and all in all, the weight appears to be on both the sides—who puts on more weight is what time ahead will decide.
